Collection of material about Mayne Reid, 1853-1882.

Collection consists of research materials used by Joan Steele while writing her dissertation on Mayne Reid for the UCLA Dept. of English. Includes 12 of Reid's novels, positive microfilm of Reid's original letters in the New York Public Library, photocopies of 350 of Reid's letters to Charles Ollivant, photocopies of printed stories and articles by Reid from the collections of the British Library, and a photostat copy of Reid's will.
